Fill My Basketball is a brand new fundraising format for basketball teams, clubs, and youth wrestling organizations in which participants try to get a donation for each of 30 spaces in their basketball. Each donor leaves their name and fills a basketball space. Spaces range from $5–$100 and total to $740 per basketball – raising you more than enough money for tournament entry fees, travel, new uniforms, and more.

Everything you need to know about running a fill my fundraiser.
Ideal timing for a Fill My Basketball fundraiser depends on which season you play. School programs do best in late October or November, as tryouts wrap and season excitement builds — or during a strong playoff run when the community is locked in. Club teams have a natural window in early spring, right before AAU season: rosters are set, families know the summer schedule, and tournament fees are about to hit. That pre-season urgency is one of basketball's best fundraising windows.
Whatever the season, a 2–4 week window works best — a short, organized campaign beats a long one.
Book a demo, get your sign-up link, then create your fundraiser and add your roster — Teamfi generates a donation page for each player automatically. A full AAU organization with six age divisions sets up just as fast as a single varsity squad. A few things worth considering:
Basketball fundraising usually means a free throw contest, a candy bar sale, or a silent auction — all of them work, and all of them ask the same families to show up one more time.
This one is a basketball. Players watch their shape fill in with their name on it, and so do donors. That lands differently than a raffle ticket, especially for the player who dreads asking.
It runs alongside the season instead of interrupting it — no gym time sacrificed, no shifts to schedule. Launch it the week rosters are posted and it works while your team runs drills.

"Loved this fundraiser and I thought it was the easiest thing ever. I had access to everything and was able to do things on my end. If I ever had a question, you were super easy to work with and got back to me right away. Also, you don't take advantage of the percentage on the back end, which we appreciate!"

How do the digital Fill My Basketball donations work — can someone claim more than one space?
Yes, donors can grab as many spaces as they'd like, and each space they claim shows their name if they choose to leave one. Prefer a different amount than the $5–$100 spaces? Custom donations work too. Everything lands directly in your account through Stripe — no cash envelopes, no checks to deposit — and your Teamfi dashboard tracks every claimed space and custom donation in real time.
Can we run a Fill My Basketball alongside our shoot-a-thon, calendar, or crowdfunding fundraiser?
You can, though most families give once a season — running two at once often means getting half of each. Many basketball programs slot a Fill My Basketball into the opposite part of their calendar from other digital options like shoot-a-thons or calendar fundraisers.
For example, if your school team runs a crowdfunding campaign during the winter season, a Fill My Basketball works well when club season starts in the spring — or in the summer ahead of a national qualifier, when travel costs are about to hit.
When should we run a Fill My Basketball fundraiser?
It depends on which season you play. School programs do best in late October or November as tryouts wrap and the season tips off, or at the end of a strong playoff run when community support is at its peak. Club and AAU teams have a different window: right after rosters are set in the fall, before tournament fees come due — or in the early spring, right before the AAU season begins and travel costs start adding up.
Whichever calendar you're on, most Fill My Basketball fundraisers find success in just a 2–4 week campaign — leaving your team with funds for new uniforms, court fees, tournament entries, or travel to the next qualifier.
What happens if some of the players on our basketball team don't participate?
No problem at all — nothing breaks. Your team's fundraiser total is just the sum of what each player raises, so there's no threshold to hit and partial participation still works. With basketball rosters typically running 12–15 players, grouping participants by team — varsity, JV, freshman, or club age divisions — makes it easy to see which groups are moving and where a nudge would help.
One way to boost participation is a simple incentive for funds raised — a team dinner, custom shooting shirts, or covered tournament fees for top fundraisers. Basketball programs already raise real money on Teamfi: West Catholic Basketball raised $8,032 with a Teamfi crowdfunding campaign — and a Fill My Basketball fundraiser works the same way, with each player sharing their own link.
How do out-of-town family members donate to our Fill My Basketball?
This is the beauty of running a Fill My Basketball Fundraiser with Teamfi — it's all digital! To donate, anyone can tap the player's link and claim a space from wherever they are. Club and AAU families know this problem well: grandparents and relatives can't make it to a tournament three states away, but they still want to support the season. Players share their link by text or social in one tap, and if your team is using Teamfi's free automated donor outreach feature, the work is done for you.
