Bowlathon Fundraiser FAQs
Simple answers to commonly asked questions about bowlathon fundraisers.
How does a Bowlathon work?
A Bowlathon is a fundraising method in which fundraiser participants collect pledges based on how many bowling pins they knock down in a certain number of games. Usually, this is somewhere between 1 and 3 games.
For example, is a donor pledges $0.50 per pin that a pariticpant knocks down, and then the participant knocks 100 pins total on the day of the Bowlathon event, that would lead to a $50 donation for your organziation.
How many games should the bowlers complete during the Bowlathon?
This is totally up to you! Ideally, the event would take no more that 2-3 hours to keep excitement high throughout the event. This can vary anywhere between 2 and 4 games depending on how many bowlers are on each lane.
However many games are chosen, make sure that it is chosen before the bowlathon is activated so that it is clear what the expectation is for pins knocked for fundraiser supporters/pledgers.
How far in advance should a Bowlathon be planned?
To give enough time for each pariticpant to collect pledges for the bowlathon, we recommend planning your bowlathon date at least 3 weeks in advance – easpecially if running a bowlathon on pen and paper.
If using a digital bowlathon software like Teamfi, this timeline can be a little shorter (around 2 weeks), because all pledge outreaches will be automated and all donation and pledge collection will be digital, making for less manual work and quicker turnaround times.
When is the best time to run a Bowlathon?
A bowlathon can be run at any time! Typically, hosting a bowlathon during a lull in community events can be a great idea to maxmize community turnout for your bowlathon event.
How many bowlers should there be in each lane for the event?
This can vary greatly depending on the size of the bowling alley, but we'd recommend anywhere from 2-4 bowlers per lane to keep the event social for all the participants. At the end of the day, your bowlathon should be fun for everyone involved.
Is pledging the only option for a Bowlathon fundraiser supporter?
Absolutely not! Fundraiser supporters do not have to pledge per pin knocked! All Teamfi fundraisers have an option for donors to donate a flat amount in additional to pledging. By providing multiple ways for donors to support your team, it helps your organization maximize your raise.
